EDEN PRAIRIE, MN (AP) - John Carlson's first training camp with Minnesota has not been a smooth one.
In addition to trying to learn yet another new offense after leaving Seattle for a big free-agent contract with the Vikings, Carlson
has been hurt for the last month. He sprained the medial collateral ligament in his right knee and has just returned to practice.
The Vikings signed him to pair him with Kyle Rudolph in their frequent two-tight end sets, but the injury suffered on the fourth day of practice has been a setback.
Carlson says he's trying to catch up as quickly as he can, acknowledging that all the watching and studying doesn't quite compare to physically going through a play with the rest of the offense on the field.
