GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) University of North Dakota officials say construction of a new indoor practice facility for the school's athletic teams should begin this fall.
The building will be constructed on the site of the old Ralph Englestad Arena, which was the home of UND hockey for 29 years. Demolition of the building began last week.
The UND Athletics High Performance Center will be used by all of the school's athletic teams, and especially provide a boost to spring sports like baseball, softball and track, which find it difficult to practice in bad weather. Spring football practice will also be held there.
The facility will feature state-of-the-art strength, conditioning and sports medicine facilities, as well as coaches offices and locker rooms.
Details on the center can be found at visit www.undsports.com/athleticscomplex.
