MACOMB, Ill. (KNSI) Western Illinois says it has hired longtime Minnesota-Duluth head coach Bob Nielson to lead the Leathernecks.
The school said Wednesday that it hired Nielson to replace Mark Hendrickson. Hendrickson was fired after a 3-8 season.
Nielson has coached 10 seasons at Minnesota-Duluth and also served as the school's athletic director. He went 170-59-1 in 20 total seasons as a head coach. Two seasons ago he led Minnesota-Duluth to a perfect 15-0 season and a second NCAA Division II national championship.
