MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Twins have optioned right-handed reliever Jeff Manship back to Triple-A Rochester.
The move was made after Wednesday's game against Chicago, when Manship gave up five hits and three runs in one inning to push his ERA to 10.97. He has given up four home runs in eight appearances.
Right-hander Kyle Waldrop will be recalled from Rochester before Friday's game against Kansas City. Waldrop, a first-round draft pick in 2004, has never pitched in the majors. He threw well in spring training before straining his elbow and landing on the disabled list.
Waldrop has a 1.26 ERA in nine appearances for the Red Wings this season, with five walks and five strikeouts in 14 1-3 innings.
