St. Cloud, Minn - St. Cloud State men's basketball seniors Damarius Cruz and Matt Craggs were named Co-MVP's of the 2013-14 Huskies team at the annual banquet held Sunday at the St. Cloud Holiday Inn.
Cruz, a senior guard averaged 13.7 points a game during his final season. He was also honored as the top three-point shooter on the team as he made 70 of 155 attempts during the season.
Craggs averaged 15.1 points and a team leading 7.4 rebounds, earning him the top rebounder award as well. Craggs was also recognized for his All-Conference first team and Academic All-Conference team honors.
Junior guard Kevin Levandoski was named the Huskies defensive player of the year and will captain the team for the second straight year in 2014-15.
Junior center James Fort earned the field goal percentage award as he finished the season with a 63.3 percent mark from the field making 76 of 120 field goal attempts. Fort was also honored as a member of the Academic All-Conference Team.
Sophomore guard Jordan Poydras was given the top assist award. Poydras dished out a team high 99 assists during the season and averaged a team high 15.7 points per game. He also was recognized for his All-Conference second team honor.
Senior Preston McCourt and junior Connor Niehaus were recognized for their academic achievement as members of the Academic All-Conference team.
St. Cloud State finished the 2013-14 season with a 20-8 overall record and earned a share of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) North Division title.
This marked the third straight 20-win season for the Huskies, fifth over the last six seasons and tenth in the 17-year head coaching career of Kevin Schlagel, who will retire at the end of the academic year. Matt Reimer, the longtime assistant to Schlagel was introduced as the Huskies next head coach on March 24.
