Salad Sundays: Twins join local produce program

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Twins have teamed with a local group to sell salads at Sunday games, and give kids in low-income neighborhoods gardening experience.

The Twins are scheduled to share more details at a news conference on Thursday morning at Nellie Stone Johnson school on the north side of Minneapolis.

Roots for the Home Team is a recently created organization that collaborates with three youth garden programs in the Twin Cities designed to promote healthy eating for children living in poorer urban areas. Participants will help grow produce for salads to be sold at Target Field on Sundays during the rest of the
2012 season.
