(The press conference will take place in the Husky Den of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 29. The public is invited and parking is available in K-Lot.)

Between his time at St. Cloud State and Colorado College, Rud worked for one season as the head coach and general manager of the USHL's Green Bay Gamblers in 2010-11.
"We welcome Eric back to St. Cloud State University," Weems said. "The caliber of our candidate pool for the women's head coaching position made this a difficult decision, but one that comes with great excitement. Eric brings extensive hockey knowledge as well as incredible commitment to student-athlete development and support.
"He has a strong understanding of both recruiting and continuing skill development, which are important to the future of our program. I am confident our young women will find in Eric a wonderful mentor, and that our program will regain competitive success under his leadership. It is also rewarding to welcome his family back to St. Cloud, where they enjoyed being a part of the community."
"I am thrilled to be the next head coach for the St. Cloud State women's hockey program. To coach in the WCHA against some of the top programs and coaches in the country is an exciting opportunity. I look forward to meeting our current players and incoming recruits as we get ready for the start of the upcoming season," Rud said.
"In addition, our family is very excited to be rejoining the St Cloud community and will enjoy reconnecting with some great people in the area. "
A graduate of Colorado College, Rud was a two-time team captain and two-time WCHA Defensive Player of the Year for the Tigers during his collegiate playing career.
