MANKATO, MN (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings would like to put Adrian Peterson in for some exhibition-game carries first before they clear him for the regular-season opener.
Coach Leslie Frazier said Wednesday there's no indication Peterson won't be ready to play Sept. 9 when the Vikings face Jacksonville at home. First he must return to practice and go through drills with the team. Frazier said he wasn't sure yet how much time the star running back will need in practice before he can
play in a game.
All reports on Peterson's left knee rehabilitation have been positive since his surgery to repair torn ligaments last December. The Vikings will evaluate him after returning from San Francisco following their first preseason game Friday, and it's possible he could be worked back into practice next week.
