UNDATED (KNSI) Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer has won his fifth Silver Slugger Award as the American League's top hitting catcher.

Mauer batted .324 in a season that was cut short by a concussion suffered when he took a foul tip off his catcher's mask in a game against the New York Mets.

Four former Twins also won Silver Sluggers--Michael Cuddyer of the Colorado Rockies, Torii Hunter of the Detroit Tigers, J.J. Hardy of the Baltimore Orioles and David Ortiz of the World Series champion Boston Red Sox.

The winners are chosen by a vote of Major League Baseball managers and coaches.
