NICK BELL CLASSIC
July 18 Friday, July 19 Saturday and July 20 Sunday
Nick Bell used to live in the house in the far left field corner. He owned the lumber yard in town from about the 40's to the 70's. He was instrumental in the beginning stages of our park, and especially with the building of the current grandstand. Bill Huls started this tourney in the 80's and named it the Nick Bell Challenge. It was called the challenge initially because it pitted 3 local teams against 3 out-state teams and we used to have home run hitting contests and things like that. It was dubbed the central MN teams vs the other teams. The contests got to be too much to take place in the time provided, so they just changed it to the games and made it the Nick Bell Classic.
