LOCAL AMATEUR BASEBALL ROUND UP
The league playoffs are coming up fast for those Class C teams, I hope to have all the brackets for the league playoffs available for you and some game summaries. Again for more baseball information thru out the state check out the following site;
GAMES PLAYED WEDNESDAY (June 25th)
The Springers topped Lakewood League foe St. Cloud Beaudreaus Saints 11-0 behind the outstanding pitching performance of Zach Femrite. Zach recorded 10 strikeouts, gave up just 3 hits and walked 2. Ryan Holthaus was the big offense leader for the Springers, as he went 2-3 with 2 doubles for 4 RBI's and Joe Dempsey went 2-3 with 2 RBI's. Zach Femrite was 1-3 with a double and a RBI, Alex Jungels 1-3 with a RBI and Ben Griffin went 1-3 with a RBI. Brad Haag took the pitching loss for the Saints and Brian Anderson thru 2 1/3 innings of relief. Ryan Schneider went 1-3 with a double, Dave Carlson 1-1 with 2 walks and Jeff Fasching went 1-3 with a double.
The Cyclones of Sauk Rapids topped Central Valley League foe St. Augusta 5-4 behind the pitching performance of Andy Henkemeyer and Nate Freihammer earned the save. This was Nate's first amateur appearance as a pitcher. Bo Schmitz went 1-4 with 2 RBI's with a triple in the bottom of the 7th. Derek Cagle went 1-4 with a double and Adam Wippler went 1-3 with a double and a RBI. Marcus Lommel was the pitcher of record for the Gussies of St. Augusta, he recorded 8 strikeouts in 6 innings. Nate Laudenbach went 2-3 with a double and 2 runs scored and Brady Grafft went 1-3 with a double, 1 run scored and a RBI.
The Muskies of Sartell topped Sauk Valley foe Litchfield 5-2; behind Adam Wenker's impressive pitching performance. He had 12 strikeouts and scattered 5 hits as he threw a complete game. Jake Sweeter was the leader on offense as he went 3-5 with a double and a RBI. Luke Sweeter went 2-5 with 1 run scored and Tim Burns was 1-4 with 2 runs scored.
The Joes of St. Joseph topped Sauk Valley rival Clear Lake Lakers 6-3, behind the pitching of Josh Woods as he went 6 innings and Greg Anderson got the save with 3 innings of relief. Joe Barrett led the Joes offense with 3 hits and 2 RBI's. Greg Anderson had 2 hits and a RBI, Aaron Rochaleau had 2 hit and a RBI, R. J. Albers had 2 hits and a RBI and Ethan Carlson had 2 hits. Matt Korte worked 5 innings and was the pitcher of record for the Lakers and Ryan Spengler worked 3 innings of relief. Sam Iten was the Clear Lakes leader of offense with 2 hits.
The Lakers of Avon topped Central Valley League foe Pearl Lake 7-1 with Dylan Panek getting the pitching win. Riley Voit had 2 doubles and 2 RBI's and Scott Litchy had a double and a RBI for the Lakers.
The Stone Poneys dropped a Eastern Minney West game to Mora 10-0; with Alex Lotthamer taking the pitching loss as he threw 5 innings and Jordan Clitty threw 2 innings of relief. Jeff Amann went 2-3 and Jake Wenzel went 1-2 with a walk to led the Poneys offense.
GAMES PLAYED FRIDAY (June 27th)
The Muskies of Sartell topped Sauk Valley League rival the Joes of St. Joseph 10-0 behind the pitching efforts of David Deminsky as he scattered 6 hits, walked 1 and had 7 strikeouts. Double D also went 4-4 with a RBI and 2 runs scored. Rob Voshell went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI's and Brian Schellinger went 2-4 with 2 RBI's. Tim Burns went 2-3 with 3 walks and 3 runs scored for the Muskies. Alex Kendall was the pitcher of record for the Joes; they were led by Ethan Carlson's 2 hits. Mike Staller, Aaron Rocheleau, Caz Novak and Ben Alvord all got hits for the Joes.
The Beaudreaus Saints topped Lakewood rival Brainerd 9-0 behind a very good pitching performance of D. J. Schleicher; he scatterd 3 hits as he threw three 7 innings and Ryan Schneider threw 2 innings and had 4 strikeouts. The Saints offense had 10 hits with Steve Neutzling and Nick Hengel leading the way with 2 hits and 2 RBI's. Brady Yoerg had 2 hits and a RBI, Will Spaniol and Dave Carlson had 2 hits each.
GAMES PLAYED SATURDAY (June 28th)
The Cold Spring Baseball Association had their "Day In The Park" fund raiser in preparation of them co-hosting the State Tournament next summer. All three Cold Spring teams played scheduled 7 inning games. With the 35 and over Silver Springers starting the day with a win over their neighbor the Richmond Royals 1-0. Darren Heying drove in the lone run and Dave Hinkemeyer threw a complete game shutout. The Rockies they took on Stearns county foe New Munich and came away with a 1-0 win. They teams battled for 13 innings with Blaine Athmann throwing 10 innings, Chris Lardy 2 innings and Jeff Lindbloom getting the win with 1 inning of relief. Mike Ficker reached base in the bottom of the 13th on a fielders choice and Ryan Bell had a single to move him over to third base and they executed the squeeze bunt to score Mike Ficker as Marshall Wirtzfeld laided down a perfect bunt. The Springers had the most offense on the day as they topped Stearns County foe Lake Henry 4-0. Reed Pfannenstein pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts and scattering 2 hits. Garrett Fuchs went 2-3 with a double and a RBI, Ben Griffin had a sacrifice for a RBI and Ryan Holthaus a sacrifice for he scored a run. The people filled the parking lot for a nearly a 4 hour concert by the Fabulous Armadillos!
The Muskies topped Sauk Valley League rival Clear Lake 12-1 behind the pitching performance of Travis Weaver. He threw 6 innings and scattered 6 hits and Shaun Schoen closed it out. The Muskies offense was led by Rob Voshell as he went 2-4 with a double an a RBI and Luke Sweeter went 2-3 with a double, 1 RBI and a stolen base. Tim Burns went 2-3 scored 3 runs, had 1 RBI and a stolen base, Tony Schmitz went 1-3 with a double and Andrew Deters had 3 walks, 2 stolen bases and score twice. No information on Clear Lake was given.
The Express of Kimball topped Central Valley League rival Brewers of Luxemburg 5-1 behind the pitching performance of Adam Thies. He threw 5 innings and Matt Dingmann got the save with 2 innings of relief. The game was only seven innings long as Mother Nature took over. Adam Beyer was 1-2 with a home run, Brian Marquardt went 1-3 with 2 RBI's, Brooks Marquardt went 1-3 with a run scored and Ben Johnson went 1-2 with a RBI and a sacrifice. For the Brewers Mike Ergen was the pitcher of record, he had 5 strikeouts. Greg Terres went 1-2 with a double, Luke Harren went 1-2 with a double and Tanner Skaja went 1-3.
The Lakers of Avon topped Victory League South rival Holdingford 11-1 behind the pitching of Kyle Collins 4 innings, he scattered 4 strikeouts. Jake Schoenberg got the save with 3 innings of relief he struck out 4. Scott Litchy had a big day as he went 4-4 with a home run and 4 RBI's. Matt Meyer went 2-4 with a RBI, Jeff Swenson went 2-4 with a RBI and a stolen base. Carter Holthaus went 2-3 with a double and a RBI and Riley Voit went 2-2 with a double and a RBI.
The Gussies of St. Augusta topped Central Lake league foe St. Nicholas 7-3 behind the pitching of Josh Gode. Nate Gwost provided a lot of the offense with 2 hits including a home run and 2 RBI's, Marcus Lommel had 2 hits as did Dusty Schulzetenberg.
GAMES PLAYED SUNDAY (June 29th)
In a very exciting game the St. Cloud Beaudreaus Saints topped the Springers of Cold Spring 3-2. Behind a strong pitching performance by Big Country Garrett Anderson as he went 6 2/3 innings and scattered 4 hits. He had support from David Koenig, as he picked up the pitching win with 2 1/3 innings of relief. The Saints out hit the Springers with seven hits and they collected several walks to lead to their big win. Ryan Schneider had a sacrifice fly in the 6th inning to score the Saints first run and Nick Maiers hit a solo home run to tie the game in the seventh inning. With a pair of infield singles and a walk the Saints loaded the bases in the ninth inning and Steven Neutzling worked for a walk to force in the winning run scored by Jeff Fasching, as he started the inning with a walk. This is a very rare league loss for the Springers, they were led by a good pitching performance by Mathias Butala as he went 6 innings, he recorded 6 strikeouts and gave up just 4 hits. Justin Thompson threw the final innings of relief as he gave up 3 hits and walked 3 batters. Drew VanLoy was the Springers offensive leader as he went 3-4 with RBI, Ben Griffin went 1-4, Ryan Holthaus went 1-4 and Garret Fuchs went 1-3. Tyler Geislinger had their 2nd RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.
The Kimball Express had a big day as they topped Central Valley League foe St. Nicholas 12-2 to up their record to 17-2 overall and their league record to 13-0. Zach Dingmann had a strong pitching performance with 9 strikeouts in 5 innings and Adam Dingman closed out the final two innings with 3 strikeouts. Adam Beyer had a huge day as he went 4-4 with 2 home runs and 2 RBI's and Brooks Marquardt went 2-4 with a home run, 3 RBI's and 2 stolen bases. Austin Ruehle went 3-3 with a stolen base, Ben Johnson went 2-5 and Kyle Winter was 1-4 with a double. The Express collected a total of 14 hits for the game.
The Joes of St. Joseph topped Sauk Valley League rival Litchfield 11-1 behind the pitching performance of Chad Schwegel of 8 innings and 7 strikeouts, he scattered 5 hits. The big offensive leaders were Alex Kendall as he went 4-4 with a RBI and Joe Barrett went 3-5 with a RBI and R. J. Albers went 2-5 including a double and 3 RBI's. Greg Anderson went 2-4 with 3 runs scored, Caz Novak went 2-5, Willie Willats went 2-4, Zach Dehler went 1-2 with 2 RBI's and Brock Cheely went 2-4 including a double and a RBI.
The Lakers of Avon topped Victory League rival St. Wendel 7-3 behind the pitching of Dylan Panek, he went 7 2/3 innings, struck out 5 and scattered 4 hits. Taylor Holthaus went 4-5 with a home run and a double for 2 RBI's and Scott Litchy went 2-5 with a home run and a double for a RBI. Ricky Hendrickson went 2-5 with a double, Luke Manthe went 2-3 with a RBI, Reed Voit went 2-4 with a RBI and Riley Voit 1-4 with a home run.
The Gussies of St. Augusta had a big offensive game as they topped Central Valley League rival Luxemburg 13-0; behind the pitching performance of Travis Laudenbach. Dusty Schulzetenburg, Marcus Lommel, Brady Grafft and Matt Skaja all he 3 hits for the Gussies. For the Brewers Nick Baker was the pitcher of record. Austin Cicatti went 3-3, Cory Wenz went 1-3, Luke Harren went 1-2 and Tanner Skaja went 1-3.
The Rockies of Cold Spring topped Central Valley League rival Watkins 5-1 behind the pitching of Rick Burtzel; as he threw 2 innings and getting the win was Jeff Lindbloom as he threw 7 innings and scattered 6 hits. David Jonas and Rick Burtzel both had hits for RBI's to lead the Rockies offense.
The Lakers of Clear Lake split their double hitter with Sauk Valley League foe Foley they won 14-4 with Matt Korte pitching the complete game. They dropped the other game 10-5 to Foley, no further details were made available on the games.
The Stone Poneys of Sartell collect two wins over Eastern Minney Western league foe Chisago Lakes, as they forfeited both games.
