Game Played Tuesday July 15th Game

 

The Stone Ponies of Sartell topped Sauk Valley foe Litchfield 7-4 behind the pitching effort of Jeff Amann. He threw 6 innings, scattered 8 hits, walked one and recorded 7 strikeouts. Rob Gabrielson got the save with 3 innings of relief,  he gave up 2 hits and recorded 4 strikeouts. Rob Gabrielson went 2-5 including 2 sacrifices and a RBI and Austin Timm had sacrifice and three RBI's. Tyler Waytashek went 2-4, D. J. Argetsinger went 2-4, Pat Dolan went 1-4 and Jake Wenzel went 1-2 with 2 walks and a stolen base.

 

Wednesday July 16th Games

 

The Springers of Cold Spring topped Central Valley foe the Express of Kimball, behind the pitching efforts of Mathias Butala. He recorded 14 strikeouts in just 7 innings, issued no walks and scattered 6 hits. Chris Butala threw 2 innings of relief, he recorded 4 strikeouts and gave up 3 hits. Drew VanLoy lead the Springers offense as he went 3-5 including 3 doubles and 2 RBI's and Tyler Geislinger went 2-4 with a double and a RBI. Joe Dempsey had a double and to drive in 2 runs, Ben Griffin went 1-4 for 2 RBI's and Zach Femrite was 1-3 with a double. Zach Dingmann was the pitcher of record for the Express. Ben Johnson had a double to drive in 2 runs and Brian Marquardt also had a double to drive in 2 runs. Scott Marquardt went 2-5 and Jordan Joseph went 2-4 for the Express, as they did collect 9 hits. The Springers are now 15-5 and Express dropped to 18-4 on the season.

 

The Cyclones dropped a Lakewood League game to rival the Bees of Brainerd 6-5, Paul Schlangen was the pitcher of record for the Cyclones. Paul Schlangen also led the Cyclones on offense as he went 2-5 with 3 RBI's.

 

 

Friday July 18th Games

 

The Springers of Cold Spring topped Corn Belt League and Regional rival the A's of Marshall 5-4 in 10 innings. Behind Zach Femrite's complete game effort, he recorded 10 strikeouts and scattered 8 hits. Jack Arnold had a big night for the Springers as he went 2-4 with a walk and one huge RBI. He drove in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the 10th inning. Tyler Geislinger continues to stay hot as he went 2-3 with a walk. Drew VanLoy went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks and Zach Hinkemeyer went 1-3 with 2 RBI's, a walk, sacrifice and a stolen base for a big night for the Springers.

 

The Cyclones of Sauk Rapids dropped their game to the last years Class A state runner up and a member of the First National League the Cobras of Minneapolis 16-6. Jeff Hille was the pitcher of record for the Cyclones as he threw 3 innings of relief along with Grant  Chapa, he also threw three 3 innings as the starting pitcher. Derek Cagle went 2-3 with a RBI, Joel Haller went 2-3 with a RBI, Bo Schmitz went 2-4 with a RBI and Andy Henkemeyer had a RBI, 2 walks and a sacrifice for the Cyclones.

 

The Beaudreaus Saints of St. Cloud topped last years Class C State Champions the Muskies of Sartell 4-3, behind the pitching efforts of Brad Haag. He threw 7 innings, scattered 7 hits, had one walk and recored 5 strikeouts. Dave Koenig got the save with 2 innings of relief, giving up just one hit, no walks and 5 big strike outs. Nick Hensel had a huge night at the plate as he went 3-5 with 2 big RBI's and Waylon Bemboom went 2-4 with 2 stolen bases, a walk and one run scored. Brady Yoerg went 3-5 with 2 stolen bases and a run scored to lead the Saints offense. Grant Mackenthun was the pitcher of record for the Muskies, he threw 4 2/3 innings with relief help from Tony Schmitz, he threw 1 1/3 innings and Dan O'Connell completed the game, he gave up 3 hits, 2 walks and record one strikeout. Tim Burns went 2-3 with a double, Rob Voshell went 1-3 with a RBI and Andrew Deters went 2-4 with a walk to led the Muskies offense.

 

Games Played Saturday July 19th

 

The Springers of Cold Spring topped Class B rivals the Greyhounds of Austin 7-0 behind a strong pitching performance by Justin Thompson. He scattered 6 hits, had 3 walks and recorded 5 strikeouts. Joe Dempsey had a huge day at the plate, as he went 4-4 with a double and 4 RBI's. Drew VanLoy continues to stay hot as he went 3-3 with a double and 2 RBI's. Zach Hinkemeyer went 1-1 with a double, a walk and a sacrifice, Ryan Holthaus went 1-4 with a RBI. Tyler Geislinger went 1-3 with a run scored and Jack Arnold went 1-3 and he scored a run. The Springers collected a total of 11 hits as they had a good day at the plate in their win over the Greyhounds.

 

The Cyclones of Sauk Rapids dropped a game to regional rival the A's of Marshall 10-7 with Tyler Bjork being the pitcher of record, as he threw a complete game. Bo Schmitz had a great day at the plate, as he went 3-4 with a walk and 2 RBI's, Andy Hinkemeyer went 1-2 with a triple and 3 RBI's. Tyler Bjork went 2-4 and Derek Cagle went 1-3 with a RBI for the Cyclones offense. The Cyclones could have been called the iron nine, as they only had nine ball players for this game.

 

The Muskies of Sartell topped Sauk Valley League foe Litchfield 14-4 in this first playoff game. Behind a strong pitching performance by Adam Wenker, he scattered 6 hits, walked just 2 and recorded 5 strikeouts. Jake Sweeter had a big day at the plate as he went 3-4 with a double and 3 RBI's.  Jace Otto went 2-4, with a sacrifice and 2 RBI's, Rob Voshell went 3-4 with a stolen base and a RBI and Andrew Deters went 1-2 with 3 walks. Tim Burns went 1-3 with a sacrifice, a walk and 2 RBI's, Luke Sweeter went 1-3 with a stolen base and a RBI, Dan O'Connell went 1-3 with a sacrifice and 2 RBI's. Brian Schellinger went 1-3 with a walk and a RBI and Adam Schellinger went 1-4 with a walk and a RBI. The Muskies pounded out a total of 14 hits on the day.

 

The Lakers of Clear Lake had their season come to a end with their loss to Sauk Valley rival Litchfield 4-2. Matt Korte was the pitcher of record as he threw all nine innings, he scattered 6 hits, walked 2 and recorded 7 strikeouts. Sam Iten went 1-3 with a RBI, Kyle Sytsma went 1-4, Jake Samuelson went 1-4 and Joe Setrom went 1-4.

 

The Lakers of Avon dropped their Victory League South playoff game to rival St. Stephen 3-1. Kyle Collins was the pitcher of record as he threw 7 innings, he recored 3 strikeouts and gave up 8 hits. Reed Voit went 2-3 with a RBI, Carter Holthaus went 1-3 and Cody Stich went 1-3.

 

The Joes of St. Joseph dropped their Sauk Valley League playoff game to the Lumberjacks of Foley 3-0. Greg Anderson was the pitcher of record for the Joes. The Joes did have 10 hits, but they struggled to put any of their hits together.  Aaron "Rocky" Rocheleau went 2-4 with a double, Brandon Bloch went 3-4 with a double to lead their offense. Tyler Mueller went 2-2 and getting one hit each were; Ben Alvord, Ethan Carlson and Joe Barrett.

 

The Stone Poneys had a great game as they topped Eastern Minney rival Hinckley 5-1, behind the strong pitching performance by Jeff Amann. He scattered 5 hits, walked 6 and record 9 strikeouts. The Poneys collected 11 hits, led by Jake Wenzel,  as he went 2-4 with a sacrifice, a walk and 2 RBI's. Austin Timm went 2-5 with a triple and one RBI, Josh Rathbun went 2-5 with a RBI, Brandon Reinking went 2-3 with a double and Spencer Timm went 2-4. This win should lock up a number seed in the Poneys league playoffs!

 

Games Played on Sunday July 20th

 

The Springers of Cold dropped their last game of the Nick Bell Classic to Class A Cobras of Minneapolis 10-5. Reed Pfannenstein was the pitcher of record as he struggled with control early on. Mathies Butala threw one inning relief and Jack Arnold provided three very good innings of relief as he shut the Cobras down as did Mathies. Ben Griffin went 1-1 with a double, 2 walks and 2 RBI's and Ryan Holthaus went 2-3 with a double, walk and a RBI. Justin Thompson went 2-3 with a walk and Garrett Fuchs went 1-3 with a triple. The Springers did collect a total of ten hits in the Cobra game.

 

The Cyclones of Sauk Rapids topped Class B rival the Greyhounds of Austin 8-5, behind the pitching efforts of Andy Hinkemeyer as he went 6 innings, he recorded 4 strikeouts and Grant Chapa got the save with two very effective innings of relief. Andy Hinkemeyer also had a great day at the plate with a 3-5 day, with a double and a RBI and Bo Schmitz had a big day as he went 3-3 with a double, triple and a RBI. Joel Haller went 1-4 with a double and a RBI and Tom Wippler went 1-3 with a double.

 

The Muskies of Sartell topped Sauk Valley League foe Foley in their 2nd round of their playoffs 5-0, behind the pitching of David Deminsky. David recorded 15 strikeouts, walked one and scattered 7 hits. Tim Burns led the Muskies offense as he went 3-4 with a home run, double and 3 RBI's and  Luke Sweeter went 1-4 with a walk and a RBI and Jace Otto went 1-4 with a RBI. The Muskies will wait till Sunday to take on the winner of the Foley/Litchfield game, they will take a 20-4 record into the game. 

 

The Express of Kimball topped Central Valley League rival the Brewers of Luxemberg 6-5 in their 2nd round of their playoffs. Zach Dingmann was the pitcher of record as he threw 2 2/3 innings of relief, he recorded 2 strikeouts, scattered 3 hits and walked one. Jordan Joseph earned the save with 1 2/3 innings of relief. Ben Johnson was the starting pitcher for the Express, he threw 4 2/3 innings, walk 2, gave up 3 hits and recorded 8 strikeouts. Scott Marquardt led their offense with a 3-3 day including 2 home runs, 2 walks and 3 RBI's. Jordan Joseph went 2-4, Ben Johnson went 1-5 with 2 RBI's and Austin Ruehle went 1-3 with a RBI. Mitch Ergen was the pitcher of record for the Brewers, he threw 6 innings and Nick Baker threw 2 innings of relief and Colton Fruth one inning of relief. Greg Terres had a big day at the plate with a 2-5 effort including 2 RBI's, Austin Ciccati had a walk and a RBI, Isaac Matchinsky went 2-5. Tanner Skaja went 1-4 with a RBI and a walk and Cory Wenz went 1-4.

 

The Rockies dropped their Central Valley League playoff game to their rival the Clippers of Watkins in 11 innings 4-3. Chris Lardy was the pitcher of record as he threw 3 2/3 innings of relief and the starter, Rick Burtzel threw 6 1/3 strong innings for the Rockies. Marshall Witzfeld had a big night as he went 3-5 with a triple and 2 RBI's and Mike Holbrook went 2-5 with a RBI. David Jonas went 2-5 with 2 doubles, Josh Porwall went 2-5 and Paul Schreiner went 1-3 with a triple and 2 walks.

 

The Gussies of St. Augusta topped Central Valley League rival the Nicks of St. Nicholas 12-5 in their elimination game. The Gussies will move on now to play the Brewers of Luxemburg. Zach Laudenbach earned the pitching win for the Gussies as he scattered 8 hits, walked just 2 and he recored 2 strikeouts. Dan Swan threw two innings of relief, he recorded 2 strikeouts and Aaron Fluth threw the final inning, he recorded 2 strikeouts. Dusty Schulzetenberg went 2-6 with 2 doubles, 2 stolen bases and a RBI and Marcus Lommel went 2-4 with a sacrifice and 3 RBI's. Adam Gwost had  a very good game as he went 3-4 with 2 RBI's, Nate Gwost went 2-5 with a RBI. Zach Laudenbach went 2-3 with 2 stolen bases and a RBI, Dan Swan went 2-2 and Brady Graff went 1-4 with a double.

 

The Joes of St. Joseph dropped their Sauk Valley League playoff game to the Blues of Litchfield 10-6. Josh Wood was the pitcher of record for the Joes as he threw 6 innings, Joe Barrett three 1 1/3 innings of relief and Alex Kendall threw the 2 2/3 innings and he recorded 5 strikeouts. The Joes pounded out 16 hits but just could not bunch their hits as they left several runners on base. Brandon Bloch went 3-4 with  a RBI and a walk and Tyler Mueller went 2-4 with a walk and a RBI. Joe Barrett had a good game as he went 2-4 with 2 stolen bases, Ben Alvord went 2-5 with a RBI and Alex Kendall went 1-5 with a RBI.
