Games Played Wednesday June 18th
The Springers of Cold Spring topped Lakewood League rival Brainerd 3-2 in a very well played game. Zach Femrite was the winning pitcher, with 7 innings of work, he had 6 strikeouts, scattered 5 hits and had 2 walks. Justin Thompson got the save with two outstanding innings of relief, he had 4 strikeouts, he didn't allow any hits. The bottom the seventh was a huge inning for the Springers, as they loaded the bases and Zach Hinkemeyer had a big triple to drive in all three runs. Zach was 2-3 and he walked. Ben Griffin went 2-3, Chris Butala had a double, Zach Femrite was 1-3 with one run scored and Tyler Geslinger scored one run and had 3 stolen bases.
The Muskies topped Sauk Valley foe Foley 10-0 behind the very strong pitching of David Deminsky as he had 16 strikeouts and didn't allow a base runner till the top of the 7th. He gave up a single and he had no walks. Brian Schellinger was 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's, Tim Burns had a home run and Tony Schmitz went 2-4 with a double and a RBI. Rob Voshell went 2-4 with a RBI and Adam Schellinger went 1-3 with a RBI and a stolen base. The Muskies have built a 10-2 overall record and they are 5-0 in the Sauk Valley League.
The Cyclones of Sauk Rapids topped Metro Minny foe Big Lake 5-1, big Brett DeGagne recorded the pitching win with a very strong performance, he had 12 strikeouts, 2 walks and yielded just one hit. Tom Wippler went 2-4 and Joel Haller had a big single in the top of the 8th to drive in a run.
Games Played Friday June 20th
The Springers of Cold Spring topped Corn Belt League foe Raymond 5-3; behind the combined pitching efforts of Reed Pfannenstein going 3 innings with 5 strikeouts and Chris Butala throwing 6 innings of relief, he had 5 strikeouts. Joe Dempsey had a big night as he went 2-4 with two doubles and 2 RBI's. Ben Griffin went 3-5 with a RBI, Justin Thompson went 2-3 with a double and a triple with 1 RBI and Ryan Holthaus went 2-5 with a double.
The Express of Kimball topped Central Valley League rival Eden Valley 11-1 with Zach Dingmann picking up the pitching win with 6 innings, scattered 2 hits and had 4 strikeouts. Scott Marquardt had a huge night as he went 3-4 with a double and a triple and 3 big RBI's. Ben Johnson went 3-5 with a double and 2 RBI's, Brook Marquardt went 1-4 with a RBI and Zach Dingman went 3-4.
The Lakers of Clear Lake topped Central Valley League foe Pearl Lake 20-9 in a 7 inning game, Matt Korte was the winning pitcher for the Lakers. Chase Aleshire lead the Lakers offense with a 4 hit performance including 2 home runs and a double. Jake Samuelson had 2 hits including a home run, Scott Peterson had 2 hits including a homer run, Joe Setrum had 3 hits including 2 doubles and Matt Korte had 3 hits.
The Lakers of Avon had a big win over the Milroy Yankees 1-0 in the first round Miller Lite Invitational co-hosted by Hamburg and Green Isle. In the top of the 8th inning of a 7 inning game Cody Stich walked and Ricky Hendrickson bunted him over to second base and Matt Meyer lined a single to center field to score the only run of the game and the winning run. Ricky Hendrickson sacrificed bunt was an outstanding performance considering he had just broken his index finger on the previous pitch.
The Joes of St. Joseph dropped their first round game of the Miller Light Invitation co-hosted by Green Isle and Hamburg. They lost to Chanhassen 3-1 in a very well played game, Joe Barrett was the losing pitcher with a good four inning performance. Caz Novak went 3 for 3 and Joe Barrett went 2-4 to lead the Joes on offense.
The Gussies of St. Augusta topped Victory League South foe St. Stephen 11-0 with Dan Swan recording the win and Aaron Fruth closed the game with 3 innings of work and 5 strikeouts. Nate Gwost was the offensive leader with 3 hits and a big 3 run home run. Adam Gwost had two big doubles and Matt Skaja had 3 hits. Zach Laudenbach had a very good night with 3 hits including 2 RBI's and Dusty Schulzetenburg had 2 RBI's.
The Stone Poneys of Sartell lost a Eastern Minny West League game to the Rum River Bandits; with Jeff Amann the pitcher of record. They had a shaky game on defense that committed several errors during the course of the game. Dan Gaughan, Patrick Dolan, Jordan Clitty and Jake Wenzel all had one hit for the Stone Poneys.
Games Played Saturday June 21st
The Springers of Cold Spring topped cross town rival of the Central Valley League Cold Spring Rockies 4-1 with Justin Thompson picking up the pitching win with a complete game and 10 strikeouts. The Springers were lead by Ryan Holthaus as he went 3-4 with a double and a RBI. Tyler Geislinger also had a good night as he went 2-3 with a RBI, Zack Hinkemeyer went 1-1 with a double, 2 walks and a stolen base, Justin Thompson went 1-3 with a RBI and Zach Femrite was 1-3 with a RBI. The Rockies Josh Porwoll took the pitching loss as he did pitch a solid 8 innings and Rick Burtzel completed the 9th inning. Paul Schreiner had a great night as he went 3-4 with a double and a RBI and Josh Porwoll was 2-4 with a double. This was a very well played game with a very nice crowd in attendance.
The Muskies of Sartell topped Sauk Valley League foe Litchfield 13-5 behind Max Koprek solid pitching performance of 5 1/3 innings, he had 5 strikeouts and gave up just 2 hits. Travis Weaver threw 2 2/3 innings of relief and Grant Mackenthun closed the game out, he had 2 strikeouts. Rob Voshel had a huge day, he went 2-4 with a home run and a double for 4 RBI's and Tim Burns went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's. Jace Otto went 2-5 with a double and a RBI and Andrew Deters went 2-5. The Muskies are now 11-2 overall and 6-0 in the Sauk Valley League.
The Express of Kimball topped Central Valley League rival St. Augusta 7-6 with Matt Dingmann getting the pitching win as he worked 7 1/3 innings and he had 5 strikeouts. Austin Ruehle went 3-4 with 2 stolen bases and 2 RBI's, Brooks Marquardt went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI's and Scott Marquardt went 2-4 to lead the Express on offense. For the Gussies Travis Laudenbach took the pitching loss with 4 2/3 of work. Aaron Fruth had a big day as he had a home run and a total of 4 RBI's. Marcus Lommell went 2-5 with a stolen base and Zach Laudenbach went 1-2 with a stolen base.
The Joes of St. Joseph dropped their second tourney game of the Miller Lite Invitational to Hamburg 6-0. Chad Schwegel was the pitcher of record as he worked 6 innings and had 7 strikeouts. R. J. Alpers led the Joes on offense, as he went 2 for 3.
The Stone Poneys of Sartell dropped their second league game of the weekend to Eastern Minny West League foe Nowthon 8-2 with Travis Moreno taking the pitching loss. Austin Timm went 2-4, Jordan Clitty went 1-4 with a double and Brandon Reinking went 1-2 with a RBI.
Games Played Sunday June 22nd
The Cyclones of Sauk Rapids topped Lakewood League rival St. Cloud Beaudreaus Saints 13-0 behind Andy Thayer's great pitching performance. He threw 5 innings and gave up only 1 hit and had 6 strikeouts and Brett DeGagne had two shutout innings of relief. The Cyclones collected 16 hits on the day with Paul Schlangen going 2-5 with 2 RBI's, Joel Haller went 2-5 with a RBI, Grant Chapa 2-4 with a RBI, Andy Thayer went 2-3 with a RBI. Jesse Lavoi went 3-4 with a RBI, Adam Wippler went 2-4 with a RBI and Derek Cagle went 2-3. Garrett Anderson took the pitching loss for the Beaudreaus Saints.
The Express of Kimball won their third Central Valley League game of the weekend with a big win over rival Pear Lake 11-1 behind the pitching performance of Ben Johnson, he had 3 strikeouts and gave up 3 hits over 5 innings. Andy Dingmann threw 3 innings to close out the game, he gave up 3 hits and had 2 strikeouts. Ben Johnson was also a leader on the Express offense as he went 3-4 with a home run and 3 RBI's and Austin Ruehle went 2-4 with a home run and 2 RBI's. Brooks Marquardt went 1-3 with 2 RBI's and a stolen base, Brian Marquardt went 2-3, Scott Marquardt went 1-5 with a RBI and Kyle Winter went 2-5 with a double. The Express are 15-2 overall and 10-1 in the Central Valley League.
The Springers of Cold Spring dropped a rare game to Lakewood League rival Brainerd 6-1 with Tyler Geislinger taking the pitching loss. Tyler pitched a pretty solid game as he had 7 strikeouts and gave up only 5 hits in a complete game effort. Alex Jungels was the leading hitter with a 3 hit game.
The Rockies of Cold Spring topped Central Valley League rival Eden Valley 6-1 with Blaine Athmann throwing a complete game, he scattered 6 hits thru out the game. David Jonas led the offense as he went 3-4 with a home run, three runs scored and 2 RBI's. Paul Schriener had a very good game as he went 2-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's and John Rossman went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI's.
The Brewers of Luxemburg topped Central Valley League foe St. Nicholas 5-2 behind Nick Baker's pitching performance, he three 5 innings scatter 4 hits and had 4 strikeouts. Mitch Ergen recorded the save as he three 3 innings and record 4 strikeouts. Cory Fruth went 3-5 with 3 RBI's, Derrick Orth went 2-4 with a double and 1 RBI. Isaac Matchensky went 2-5 with a RBI and Austin Cicatti went 1-4 with a double and a RBI.
The Gussies of St. Augusta dropped yet another very close Central Valley League game to rival Watkins 8-7. Zach Laudenbach was the pitcher of record for the Gussies. Aaron Fruth had a 2 run home run, Dusty Schulzetenberg went 2-5 with a RBI and Nate Laudenbach went 1-3 with a double.
The Stone Poneys topped Eastern Minney Western League rival Braham 12-2 as the Poneys collected 15 hits on the day. Rob Gabrielson was credited with the pitching win with 5 innings as he had 4 strikeouts and scattered 5 hits. Jeff Amann got the save with 3 innings of work and 4 strikeouts. Jim Garbielson went 3-5 with a home run and 2 RBI's and brother Jim went 2-2 with 2 RBI's. Patrick Nolan went 2-6 with 1 RBI, Jordan Clitty was 1-4 with 3 RBI's, Timm Austin went 2-6, Jeff Amann went 2-4 and Brandon Reinking went 2-5 with a RBI.
The Gussies of St. Augusta reported the results too late last week to make the deadline. The Gussies did have a very successful weekend with two big wins. They topped Buckmann of the Victory League 15-5. Zach Laudenbach was the winning pitcher for the Gussies behind some big offensive fire works. Dustin Schulzetenburg, Matt Skaja and Nate Gwost all had 3 hits apiece, including a home run by Gwost. Adam Gwost had a big day at the plate too with 2 doubles.
The Gussies topped Central Valley League rival Pearl Lake 11-5, behind Travis Laudenbach as he threw a complete game. The big offensive leader for the Gussies was Marcus Lommel as he went 4-5 with a homer run and 2 RBI's. Both Adam Gwost and Brady Graftt had two hits including home runs. Matt Skaja went 3-5 with a double and Dustin Schulzetenburg had 2 doubles and 2 RBI's.
