ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) A 28 year career at St. Cloud State ends tomorrow (Friday) for Morris Kurtz. The longtime Huskies athletic director is retiring from the University.
Kurtz was instrumental in hiring Herb Brooks and launching the Division One men's ice hockey program at SCSU.
In honor of his years of service, Coborn's Incorporated announced that the office complex inside the renovated National Hockey and Events Center will be named after Kurtz. Coborn's previously announced a one-million dollar donation toward the renovation project.
Kurtz plans to stay active. He says he's helping Penn State with its transition to Division One hockey, and will work on behalf of the Herb Brooks Foundation, which is dedicated with providing more children the opportunities to play hockey.
