Both the St. Cloud State men's and women's basketball teams lost to Augustana Saturday night, though in decidedly different fashion.
In the first game of the night the Husky women fell just short in their upset bid, 80-78 to the first place Vikings. The Huskies had a one point lead with less than a minute to play, then took posssession down by one with 25 seconds left but could not capture the victory. Jessica Benson led the way with a career and game high 23 points as the Huskies drop to 6-9 in conference on the season.
A hot shooting night beyond the arc for the Vikings men's squad left no drama in a 74-52 loss in game two. Down ten before they scored, the Huskies trailed by 23 at half, and never pulled closer than 20 in the second half. Shaun Jensen had 13 points while Conor Niehuas scored ten. The Huskies maintain their hold on second place in conference, with a 12-3 NSIC record.
Both teams return to Hallenbeck Hall on Friday to take on Winona State. The women tip at 6:00 p.m. and the men at 8:00 p.m. Pre-game coverage begins at 5:30 on 1010AM WMIN.
