ST. PAUL, Minn. (KNSI) - A second straight trip to the Frozen Four wasn't in the cards for the Huskies as they fell to Minnesota 4-0.
Coming into tonight's game the Huskies were the 3rd highest scoring team in America with 3.59 goals a game, but the offense was nowhere to be found. The difference was Gopher Goaltender Adam Wilcox who made big save after big save frustrating the Huskies. On the flip side, Husky Goaltender Ryan Faragher was sent to the bench midway through the second period after giving up three Gopher goals.
Heading into the third period the Huskies were looking for any sort of spark, but sadly nothing was there. Minnesota controled the period and added another goal for good measure.
The win sends the Gophers into the Frozen Four where they will take on NCHC member North Dakota who advanced as the four seed out of the Midwest Region. Union and Boston College are the two other teams, the Frozen Four is in Philadelphia and will take place April 10th-12th.
As for the Huskies, Head Coach Bob Motzko and the voice of the Huskies Dan Terhaar will be at the Green Mill in downtown St. Cloud Monday night for the Bob Motzko Coaches Show at 6pm on AM 1450 FM 103.3 KNSI.
