ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Nic Dowd wasn't ready to call it a year. His goal in overtime was the difference in the 4-3 win over Notre Dame.
The Huskies got on the board first as Ryan Papa scored seven minutes into the game with assists from Jonny Broadzinski and Kalle Kossilla. Notre Dame had an answer though three minutes later to tie it up at 1-1. But a theme to the evening was SCSU finishing periods strong and with 35 seconds on the clock Brooks Bertsch buried home a rebound to give the Huskies the lead heading into the first intermission.
In the second period Notre Dame scored first to even it up at two apiece, and as it looked like the teams would head into the second intermission knotted up, the Huskies again struck in the final minute as Brodzinski hammered home a power play goal giving the Huskies a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes. The final period saw only one goal and that was from Notre Dame which sent the game into sudden death overtime.
In overtime, after missing out on two power play chances, captain Nic Dowd buried the game winner to send the Huskies onto a match-up with Minnesota Saturday night.
Saturday night's game against Minnesota will be LIVE on AM 1450 FM 103.3 KNSI starting with the Williams Integracare Pregame at 6pm.
