EAST LANSING, Mi. (KNSI) Rachel Banham's 21 points weren't enough Thursday night as the University of Minnesota women's basketball team lost its Big Ten Conference opener at Michigan State 66-51.
Banhan scored 17 of her points in the second half. Kionna Kellogg and Micaella Riche chipped in 10 points each.
Minnesota shot just 33 percent for the game, and falls to 11-4 on the season.
Michigan State improved to 13-1.
The Gophers return to action Sunday afternoon with a game at Wisconsin.
