PHILADELPHIA (KNSI) One of the most storied rivalries in college hockey will be renewed tonight when the University of Minnesota plays North Dakota in the semifinals of the Frozen Four national tournament in Philadelphia.
The Gophers are 27-6-6 on the season, and the tournament's number one overall seed.
North Dakota is 25-13-3 and upset Wisconsin and Ferris State to win the Midwest Regional.
Tonight's faceoff is at 7:30 at the Wells Fargo Center. The two teams no longer play during the regular season due to different conference affiliations. The Gophers left the Western Collegiate Hockey Association to join the Big Ten Conference. North Dakota is now a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.
The other semifinal has Boston College facing Union.
The winners play for the national title Saturday night.
