MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KNSI) Fourth-ranked Minnesota scored four power-play goals and coasted to an 8-1 men's college hockey win over top-ranked Boston College Sunday in the championship game of the Mariucci Classic.
The Golden Gophers (13-3-3) dominated in a rematch of last year's Frozen Four semifinal won 6-1 by Boston College.
Nick Bjugstad scored the first of his two goals on the power play just 2:52 into the game.
Minnesota was 4-for-8 with a man advantage and scored a goal short-handed. The Gophers also scored another goal seconds after a power play ended. That led the Eagles (12-3-1) to replace Parker Milner in goal. Seconds later, Minnesota scored on Brian Billett.
Freshman goalie Adam Wilcox made 32 saves and added an assist for the Gophers, whose last title was during the 2008-09 season.
