ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) Erik Haula scored two goals to lead top-ranked Minnesota to a 4-2 win over St. Cloud State on Friday in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
The top-ranked Golden Gophers (19-4-4, 11-4-4) scored twice with the teams skating 4-on-4 in the third period. Haula broke the 2-2 tie at 9:32 and Nate Schmidt followed with an insurance goal 58 seconds later.
The eighth-ranked and WCHA-leading Huskies (17-11-1, 14-6-1) tied the game on Drew LeBlanc's power-play goal at 3:59 of the third. Joey Benik had St. Cloud State's other goal.
Minnesota moved within three points of the Huskies in the WCHA standings.
Adam Wilcox made 22 saves for the Gophers, while St. Cloud State's Ryan Faragher had 38 stops. Faragher remains one win shy of tying the Huskies' record by a goalie.
