Minneapolis, Minn (AP) - University of Minnesota baseball is saying a final goodbye to Siebert Field.

The 41-year-old facility will host tonight's game between the Gophers and Division III St. Thomas. Former stars Paul Molitor and Terry Steinbach are among the Gopher alumni scheduled to attend.

The Golden Gophers played their first game at Siebert in 1971 when it was still called Bierman Field. The university renamed the facility Siebert Field in 1979, in honor of former head coach Dick Siebert.

According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, funding for a new Siebert Field is expected to be approved at the next Board of Regents meeting in June.

The Gophers have hosted three NCAA regionals and six Big Ten tournaments  at Siebert field and even won the '04 Big Ten title on their legendary field.
