ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Eric Decker had to wait, but he cashed in on free agency Wednesday night as he joined the New York Jets.
After being in New York all day, he agreed to a five year, 36.25 million dollar contract with 15 million dollars guaranteed. The Jets, after cutting WR Santonio Holmes earlier this off-season, were in the market for a wideout. Decker after setting career highs in catches and yards Decker was allowed to hit the open market by the Denver Broncos.
Decker’s transition to the Jets could be a tough one as the 2013-14 Broncos set many all-time records on offense on their way to the Super Bowl. The Jets on the other hand had the 31st ranked passing offense and struggled with rookie Quarterback Geno Smith.
Decker will be 27 on March 15th.
