DENVER (KNSI) The Denver Pioneers jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead and never looked back in beating St. Cloud State 5-2 Saturday night for a split of their National Collegiate Hockey Conference weekend series.

Johnny Brodzinski and Jimmy Murray scored even strength goals for St. Cloud State.

Ryan Faragher and Charlie Lindgren split time in the nets for the Huskies, which peppered goaltender Sam Brittain with 37 shots on goal, including a game high 10 by Brodzinski.
