MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Chuck Knoblauch is the newest member of the Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame.
The Twins made the announcement on Friday, just a few hours before opening their annual fan festival known as TwinsFest. Knoblauch spent seven years in Minnesota and won the 1991 AL rookie of the year award while helping the team win its second World Series.
He hit .304 in his Twins career and still holds the franchise career record for steals and the single season team record for stolen bases and runs scored. Knoblauch left after the 1997 season. He spent four seasons with the Yankees and finished his Major League career after one season with the Royals in 2002.
Knoblauch says he is humbled by the honor.
He will be inducted on Aug. 23.
