Sports for Tuesday, August 5th

 

MLB: Twins were idle last night

-       San Diego comes to town tonight for interleague action

-       Jesse Hahn (7-2) vs. Phil Hughes (10-8) is the pitching match-up, first pitch is at 7:10pm

 

Northwoods League: Rox 9, Honkers 5

-       Rox are 2 games out of 1st place in the North Division

-       Rox have the night off tonight, only 2 home games left this season

 

NBA:

-       ESPN is reporting that a Kevin Love trade is done and will be completed on August 23rd. Andrew Wiggins will head to Minnesota, with Kevin Love going to Cleveland. It also sounds like Anthony Bennett, last year's number one pick, could be going to Philadelphia with Minnesota getting Thadeus Young.

-       No players are dropping out of Team USA's program following the leg injury of Paul George

 

-       Thursday morning at St. Cloud Apollo the Minnesota Timberwolves caravan will be in town. Corey Brewer and Ronny Turiaf, along with some of the coaching staff, will be on hand for autographs and coaching sessions.

 

NFL:

-       Vikings start their preseason Friday when they host the Oakland Raiders

-       Brett Favre and the Packers announced that he will go into the Packers HOF and have his number retired next season

-       Hard Knocks debuts tonight on HBO, it is with the Atlanta Falcons this season

 

Other Sports:

-       A brawl at a UFC press conference is being called fake by some. Monday afternoon Jon “Bones” Jones and Daniel Cormier destroyed a stage following a fight during their face-off before this Saturday’s fight. Some observers say the fight was staged to boost pay-per-view sales
