Sports for Tuesday, July 22nd

 

MLB: Twins 4, Indians 3

-       Win snaps a 3 game losing streak for the Twins, Josh Wilingham’s HR in the 8th inning was the difference

-       Cathedral’s baseball coach Bob Karn threw out the first pitch

 

-       Trade deadline is 9 days from today, Twins are expected to be sellers

 

-       Danny Salazar (1-4) vs. Yohan Pino (1-2) is the pitching matchup

 

-       The Twins are offering free baseball camps Saturday in St. Cloud. Clinics are open to kids from the ages of 6-16. For more info, call 1-800-33-TWINS

 

Northwoods League: Rox are off for the All-Star break until Thursday

-       Homerun Derby and All-Star game are today, good luck to St. Cloud’s Chris Paul in the derby.

-       Rox return home on the 26th

-       Vikings single game tickets are on sale today! There is a catch, to get Patriot tickets, you have to buy Jets tickets as well, and to get the Packers tickets you also have to buy the Falcons game tickets as well.

-       Chris Kluwe will be suing the Vikings on Wednesday. According to reports, he will be seeking 10-million dollars in damages. He will donate his possible winnings to LGBT charities 

-       Christian Ponder and wife Samantha Ponder had a baby girl 

 

-       Vikings players report to camp Thursday, Matt Wood and KNSI's Mike Tanner will be at Vikings training camp starting Thursday night.

 

NHL:

-       New Wild forward Thomas Vanek (VAN-eck) is in a sticky situation. The forward was in Federal Court yesterday testifying in a federal gambling investigation. Right now he has NOT been charged and is cooperating with authorities. Three men with connections to Vanek are accused of running a gambling ring out of their restaurant. 

-       The Wild issued a statement: “We are aware of Thomas Vanek’s cooperation with a federal investigation and have no further comment at this time.” 

-       The NHL said that they are looking into the situation.
