Sports for Friday, July 18th

 

MLB: Twins were idle last night

-       Twins kick-off the second half of their season tonight against the Tampa Bay Rays

-       Pitching match-up, Alex Cobb (4-6) vs. Kyle Gibson (8-7), first pitch at  7:10pm

 

Northwoods League: Huskies 5, Rox 4

-       Rox have now dropped 4 in a row

-       Duluth Huskies still in town tonight, Mountain Man from "Duck Dynasty"  will be at Joe Faber field tonight, first pitch is at 7:05pm

 

NBA: Kevin Love on the move?

-       According to sources, the Cleveland Cavaliers are willing to include number one pick Andrew Wiggins in a potential trade for Kevin Love.

 

NFL:

-       Vikings open their training camp in 6 days in Mankato. Leighton Broadcasting sports director Matt Wood and KNSI news director Mike Tanner will be in Mankato next Thursday and Friday.

-       Roger Goodell announced that the NFL is down to Chicago or LA for next year's draft

 

NHL:

-       Wild have resigned John Curry to a one year contract, but sound like they are willing to let defenseman Nate Prosser walk as a free agent

 

Golf: British Open at Royal Liverpool

-       Rory McIlroy leads after the first round with a 66, 6-under

-       Tiger Woods got fire on the back 9 and finished with a 3-under

-       Phil Mickelson struggled with a 2-over 74

 

Local Sports:

-       Erica Traut, a Sartell High School graduate, is racing today in the National High School Rodeo finals in Rock Springs Wyoming. She is in 11th after the first round.
