Sports for Thursday, July 10th

 

MLB: Twins 8, Mariners 1

-       Kyle Gibson was strong picking up his 8th win on the season

-       Kendrys Morales had 3 RBI in his return to Seattle

-       Twins wrap up their 4 game series against the Mariners tonight

-       Yohan Pino (0-2) vs. Tom Wilhelmsen [Will-helm-son] (1-1), 9:10pm

 

-       Ricky Nolasco was placed on the 15 day DL with elbow soreness. Samuel Deduno will replace him in the rotation

 

Northwoods League: Rox 4 Moondogs 2

-       Rox are hot, won 5 out of their last 6

-       Rox are on the road tonight, taking on the Willmar Stingers, first pitch at 7:05pm

 

World Cup: Argentina 0, Netherlands 0 F/PK

-       Argentina advanced thanks to penalty kicks

-       Argentina will face Germany in Sunday's Final.

-       Brazil and Netherlands will face off in the 3rd place game Saturday

 

-       Tuesday’s Germany-Brazil game was the most tweeted sporting event ever with 35.6 tweets during the game

 

NBA: Clippers owner Donald Sterling was in court yesterday and lost his mind on the stand

-       “Make no mistake today, I will never, ever, sell this team. Until I die, I will be suing the NBA,” Soon after, Judge Michael Levanas called an end to the day’s testimony, and Donald Sterling was heard saying to his wife, “Get away from me, you pig!” And then adding, “Shelly, how could you lie?”

 

-       According to reports, the Timberwolves are working on a trade of Kevin Love that would send him to the Cleveland Cavaliers, only if LeBron James returns to Cleveland.

 

-       LeBron James met with the Heat yesterday but did not make a decision on where he will play. He is expected to decide in the next few days.

 

College Football:

-       Max Baer Jr, better known as Jethro from the Beverly Hillbillies, is auctioning off two hats that belonged to Alabama's Bear Bryant. Right now it is at 500 bucks.

 

NHL: Dany Heatly is no longer a member of the Minnesota Wild. He agreed to a one year, one million dollar contract with the Anaheim Ducks.

-       The Wild also signed forward Cody Almond to a one year deal as well
