Sports for Friday, July 4th

 

MLB: Yankees 7, Twins 4

-      Twins got to Tanaka early, but the Homerun ball hurt Phil Hughes as the Yankees stormed back

-      Hughes gave up 7 earned runs in 6-and-a-third

-      Yankees have now won 15 out of 18 at Target Field

 

Holiday day game today, Chase Whitley (3-2) vs. Kyle Gibson (7-6) 2pm first pitch

 

Following this series against the Yankees, the Twins are on the road until the All-Star break

 

Northwoods League: Kingfish 7, Rox 3

-      Day baseball today, Rox @ Green Bay Bullfrogs at 3pm

-      Heads up for the ladies, the Diamond Dig was moved to July 31st after being rained out last month

 

NFL:

-      Scary moment for former New York Giant, and current TV host, was hosting Good Morning America Tuesday, when a 25 year old homeless man was disarmed of a knife outside the ABC studios with a knife. When interviewed by police, he told officers that he was there to kill Michael Strahan.

 

World Cup:

France vs. Germany, 11am

Brazil vs. Columbia, 3pm

-      Landon Donovan ripped Team USA Jurgen Klinsmann; I think the most disappointing is we didn't seem like we gave it a real effort, from a tactical standpoint, I thought the guys did everything they could, they did everything that was asked of them, but I don't think we were set up to succeed yesterday, and that was tough to watch."

-      Donovan was not picked by Klinsmann to play for Team USA
