Sports for Wednesday, June 2nd

 

MLB: Twins 10, Royals 2

-       7 different Twins had an RBI

-       Joe Mauer left the game with what is being called a strained oblique. He will be evaluated today

-       Twins look to take the series with a win today

 

-       Daygame today, Royals @ Twins, first pitch is at 12:10pm

-       Jason Vargas (7-3) vs. Kevin Correia (4-9) is the pitching match-up

 

Northwood's League: Rox were off last night

-       Rox are in Kenosha tonight taking on the Kingfish, first pitch at 7:05pm

 

World Cup: Belgium 2, USA 1 F/OT

-       It was 0-0 after regulation and Belgium then scored twice in extra time. USA answered with 1 but could not equalize. The US is now eliminated

-       Tim Howard was awesome, he had 16 saves, which is the most in recorded World Cup History

-       Belgium had 27 shots while the US only had 9

-       Belgium will advance to take on Argentina in the next round

-       No more games until Friday

 

NBA:

-       The AP is reporting that the Timberwolves are waiting for Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James to sign contracts, hoping that one of the teams missing out will pay their price.

 

NHL: Wild start off free agency with a bang

-       One of the worst kept secrets came true Tuesday as the Wild signed Canadiens Winger Thomas Vanek to a 3 year, 19.5 million dollar contract.

-       Vanek played at the University of Minnesota
