Sports for Wednesday, June 25th

 

MLB: Angels 8, Twins 6

-      Kyle Gibson was touched up early, giving up 7 runs in his 2 innings of work

-      Willingham and Morales had HR’s in the loss

-      Tonight, same two teams, Yohan Pino (0-0 2.57 ERA) vs. Garrett Richards (7-2 2.79 ERA), first pitch is at 9:05am

 

Northwoods League: Rox 3, Blue Anchors 2

-      Rox get the walk-off win thanks to Chris Paul’s bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 9th

-      Rox are at the Blue Anchors tonight, first pitch is at 6:35pm, they then return home for a four-game home stand.

 

NHL:

-      Sidney Crosby picked up his 2nd Hart Trophy (MVP) last night. He also won the Art Ross Trophy (top scorer) and the Ted Lindsey Award (Players Choice for Top Player). He also won the MVP award in 2006.

-      The NHL Draft is Friday and Saturday

 

World Cup:

-      Uruguay's Luis Suarez is being accused of biting another player in yesterday's game against Italy by FIFA. Suarez is seen on video making contact with the opposing players shoulder. He has been suspended twice before for biting players, serving 10 and 7 game suspensions. He is facing a suspension between 2 games and 24 months.

-      United States striker Jozy Altidore will miss Thursday's game against Germany. Altidore pulled a hamstring in the team's first game against Ghana.

 

NBA:

-      Heat forward LeBron James exercised his option to become a free agent. He joins Knick's Forward Carmelo Anthony and possibly Miami's Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade as free agents.

-      The NBA draft is Thursday, Wolves hold the 13th pick in the draft.
