Sports for Monday, March 3rd

 
NBA: Timberwolves at the Denver Nuggets, tip-off at 8pm
 
NHL: Wild are at home tomorrow night against the Flames, puck drops at 7pm
- Wild are 1 point behind the Kings for 6th in the Western Conference
 
MLB: Tampa Bay Rays 6, Twins 3
- Oswaldo Arcia had his first homerun of spring
- Twins are at the Orioles today, first pitch is at 12:05pm
- KNSI will be at spring training at the end of this week
 
NASCAR: Kevin Harvick won at Phoenix International Raceway
- Next week's race will be in Las Vegas, where Matt Kenseth looks to win it two years in a row
 
College Hockey:
St. Cloud State split the weekend series with North Dakota and remains atop the NCHC standings, will wrap up the regular season this Friday and Saturday with a trip to Colorado College, which can be heard on KNSI
- The Bob Motzko Coaches show with Dan Terhaar can be heard tonight on KNSI from the Green Mill at 6pm.
 
Gustavus Adolphus 3, Johnnies 2 MIAC Semi finals
- Loss ends the Johnnies season
 
College Basketball: Winona State 78, SCSU 70
- The loss has the Huskies on the bubble for the NCAA tournament
- Have to wait until next week's regional rankings
 
College Wrestling: St. Cloud State will be sending 6 wrestlers to the NCAA finals in Cleveland Ohio, March 14th and 15th.
- They are Tanner Johnshoy, Jay Hildreth, Clint Poster, Gabe Fogerty, Clayton Jennissen and Austin Goergen.
- The team placed in 3rd in the regional tournament

Quinten Berres (Berries) from Kimball Class A 132
Mitch Lange from Royalton/Upsala Class A 160
Larry Bomstad from ACGC Class A 145 (will be at St. Cloud State next year)
 
Local wrestlers who had good showings:
Rylee Molitor from Sartell, Kolton Eischens from Pierz, Foley's Carter Nielsen and Mitchell Struffert, Kimball's Austin Schiefbein and Milaca Christian's Brandon Merten all finished second in state in their respective weight classes.
 
Bryce Kirchner from Apollo became the school's most successful heavyweight when he finished 3rd in the state
 
Boys Basketball:
Upcoming schedule
Section 5 2A: Cathedral vs. Annadale Tuesday in semifinal action in Buffalo on KNSI, pregame starts at 7pm
Section 8 4A: St Cloud Tech vs. Buffalo Thursday, location TBA
 
Boys Hockey: Cathedral take on Totino Grace in the late game Wednesday (8pm) in Class A state tournament
