MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KNSI) Rachel Banham's 34 points and nine rebounds led the University of Minnesota to a 72-60 win over the University of Iowa in Big Ten Conference women's basketball Thursday night.
Banham passed Lindsay Whalen for the sophomore scoring record at Minnesota when she scored with 10:46 remaining in the second half. Whalen scored 1,092 points in her first two seasons with the Gophers. Banham currently has 1,099 points.
Banham is already 15th on the school's all-time scoring list.
Freshmen Shayne Mullaney and Kayla Hirt also reached double figures against the Hawkeyes with 11 and 10 points respectively.
Minnesota improves to 15-9 overall, and 4-6 in the Big Ten. They play at Illinois Sunday.
