(KNSI) - A high school wrestling standout is looking to take home a state championship in his senior season.
After Austin Brenner's two wins at the first meet Saturday at the St. Michael-Albertville Invitational, Brenner now has 163 wins, the most by far in Tech history.
Tech finished 5th in the meet.
In his last high school wrestling season, Brenner has one goal in mind.
"Number one is win the state title, I've been to the state finals before and placed a few times before, but I haven't gotten that title yet, so senior year, might as well do it now."
He wrestles in the 170-pound weight class at Tech, but next season plans to wrestle at 165 for North Dakota State University, a Division I program.
Brenner says since 7th grade, when he started in the Tech Wrestling program, he's always had the goal to wrestle for a Division I school.
Now that's he achieved one of his long held goals, Brenner is setting his sights higher.
"I would love to be an All-American at the Division I level, so I would say that's my goal, so finish out this senior season as strong as possible and then look forward from there with new teammates, new coaches, new program."
If it weren't for his family and coaches support, Brenner says he wouldn't be wrestling for the Bison next season.
