(KNSI) - As school starts for most of the St. Cloud community, two Tech athletes have started their seasons off with great performances.

The Tigers’ Girls Soccer Team has received exceptional play from their senior defender Brenna Weaver and the football team received a large boost from junior Troy Feddema.

Weaver was an absolute stalwart on defense as the Tigers held local rivals Apollo and Cathedral to two shots-on-goal each.

The senior captain is also a captain for the lacrosse team, a member of the student council and treasurer for the National Honor Society.

Along with the above responsibilities, Weaver is also the Vice President of the Health Occupation Students of America and a member of the Stearns County Youth Task Force.

When adding all Weaver’s activities together, it is truly remarkable that she also maintains a 4.1 GPA.

Tech’s head soccer coach, Joshua Alessio attests Weaver means even more to the Tech Tigers’ Girls Soccer Program than can be witnessed with the naked eye.

“[Brenna’s] vision and efforts are not just for this year’s team, but also the future of the Tech Tigers Soccer Program. Her leadership for our program is immeasurable.”

From one field to another for Tech, the Tigers had a breakout performance for the ages from Feddema on the football field Friday, September 1st.

Feddema’s performance may not go down in the record books but the junior was quite literally all over the field as the Tigers defeated the Apollo Eagles by the score of 30-22.

As halfback, Feddema rushed eight times for 45 yards; as wideout, he caught eight balls for 119 yards and a touchdown.

Feddema was also the starting defensive back and added two tackles and some pass breakups.

Another aspect Feddema helped his team was on special teams as he handled the kickoff and return duties for the Tigers.

Tech’s head coach Jon Benson appreciated the performance as it helped him get his first win as the Tigers’ head coach.

It looks to be another great sports season in the St. Cloud area and it is off to a fantastic start for Tech and their programs.

Congratulations, Brenna and Troy and good luck in your future endeavors!
