(KNSI) - The Cathedral Crusaders defeated the Orono Spartans 5-3 on Thursday night.

In the first period, Orono's Zach Adams put them up to an early 1-0 lead.

1-0 was the score going into the first intermission.

In the second period, Orono's Thomas Walker scored in the middle of the period to put them up 2-0.

Cathedral's defense was having a hard time as they trailed 2-0 going into the second intermission.

In the third period, Cathedral's offense exploded for 3 unanswered goals in the first 5 minutes.

Nate Warner, Jackson Savoie, and CJ Zins were responsible for those 3 goals.

Nate Warner scored another goal minutes later to put Cathedral up 4-2.

Orono's Jack Suchy responded with a goal of his own to keep the game interesting, but it was not enough.

Nate Warner scored an empty net goal with less than a minute left for a hat trick.

The final score was 5-3 in favor of Cathedral.

Cathedral's Nate Warner scored 3 goals for a hat trick.

Jackson Savoie and CJ Zins each had 1 goal for Cathedral.

Zach Adams and Jack Suchy each had 1 goal for Orono.

Highlight: Nate Warner with his first goal of the night to tie Cathedral up 2-2.

Cathedral will be in action on Saturday hosting Mahtomedi on Saturday starting with the Benusa Appliance Pregame Show at 12:45pm.
