(KNSI) - Locally, Minnesota State Championships in hockey continued on consecutive Saturdays when the St. Cloud Area Slapshots followed what the Cathedral Hockey Team did last weekend.

However, this is the second-straight title for the Slapshots and for coach Mike Bakken and most of the team, this is their fourth adapted sports state title in the last year.

Along with two hockey titles, the team also won the Minnesota State High School League Championship in softball and soccer.

This season, the hockey team finished with a perfect record and outscored their state opponents by the combined score of 40-6.

In the first round of the Cognitive Impaired (CI) bracket, the Slapshots defeated Maple Grove Crimson 12-0.

St. Cloud Area then defeated New Prague/TCU/LSH/Belle Plaine/Jordan by the score of 12-1.

In the championship, the Slapshots scored 16 goals and held the South Washington Thunderbolts to four goals.

Along the way to their second-straight championship, Brian Jones scored a tournament record 21 goals and was named to the Wells Fargo All-Tournament Team.

Joining Jones from the Slapshots in the All-Tournament Team (pictured below) were Jordan Wlliams and Matthew Nueman.

Dating back to 2007, the Slapshots have now won three state titles and this was their third-consecutive trip to the championship game after losing two years ago.
