ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Apollo High School has a new boys basketball coach, its second new coach in as many years.

Apollo Activities Director Dave Langerud says Jason Allen has distinguished himself as a team player for the Eagles and will be a coach who inspires athletes with his passion for the game and his strong values.

"Allen shows the school’s commitment to our high school educational and athletic program and is an integral part to growing our students and our high school."

Jason Allen (pictured below) is from Indiana and originally went to college in Kansas before transferring to St. Cloud State University where he led the team in 3-point shooting as a senior.

Since 2013, Allen has been working in the community with youth activities and coaching the Minnesota Lockdown/Powerhouse AAU team.

He is also a District 742 behavioral specialist.

Allen takes over from Enoch Dix, whose Eagles team won 7 games last season.

Dix was named head coach in April 2016, to take over for longtime coach Dean Kesler who retired.
