KNSI WEEKLY WRESTLING REPORT

We are back for the fifth season with the same teams. From the Central Lakes Conference we will have: Sartell Sabres, Sauk Rapids Storm, St. Cloud Tech Tigers; St. Cloud Apollo Eagles and Rocori Spartans. From the Granite Ridge Conference; Albany Huskies, Becker Bulldogs and the Foley Falcons. From the Park Region Conference the Royalton/Uspala Royals and from the Central Minnesota Conference the Eden Valley Watkins Eagles.

Will bring you the individual results of the duals and Individual tournaments of all ten teams. Also the list of upcoming of events, current state ratings and conference standings. ST. CLOUD TECH TIGERS

The Tigers had a very good tournament performance to open their season, despite the fact that they finished in 5th place with 157 pts. They had twelve place winners, including a pair of championships. Included in the field of teams were the No. 4AAA St. Michael-Albertville, No. 9AAA Forest Lake, No. 5AA Perham and No. 8AA Waconia. STMA did win the tournament by one point over Forest Lake with 210.5 and 209.5 and third place went to Perham with 195 and Waconia with 193. The Tigers surely had a great tourney, minus a couple of their starters. The Tiger place winners were:

SAUK RAPIDS/RICE STORM

The Storm opened their season at the very tough St. Michael-Albertville “Knights” Invitational. They were short a couple of the starters, but they did earn 56 points and five place winners to take seventh place in the team race. Jared Spohn @ 120 led the way, as he earned second place for the Storm. Andrew Wollack earned fourth place @ 113 and Marcus Santillana earned fourth place @ 170. Ben Gilbertson earned fifth place @ 126 and Jacob Ackerman earned fifth place @ 170.

SARTELL SABRES

The Sabres had a good performance at the Melrose “Early Bird” Invitational with 137.5 points to earn fourth place in the field of nine teams. The Sabres had nine place winners, including three championships. The Bemidji Lumberjacks won the event, edging out the Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Fighting Saints by just two points and the Rocori Spartans finished just ahead of the Sabres. The champions for the Sabres were: Cole Fibranz @ 220, Jackson Penk @ 126 and Nick Pelach @ 132. Please see the list of place winners below.

ROCORI SPARTANS

The Spartans had a great opening of their season with 146 points, including eleven place winners. They did earn third place behind Bemidji a 8AAA rival and No. 9A Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg. The Spartans earned one championship by Gunnar Feldhege @ 160 and for his performance he was voted by the coaches the tournaments Outstanding Wrestler. Please the remaining place winners below!

ALBANY HUSKIES

The Huskies had a good start to their season at the Melrose “Early Bird” Invitational with 108 points and eight place winners. They were missing a couple of their starters, and yet they earned fifth place in this nine team event. The won two championships by: Gabe Zierden at 195 and Marvin Stang at 285. Please see the remaining place winners below.

EDEN VALLEY-WATKINS EAGLES

The Eagles opened their season with a pair of tournaments, they earned six place winners at the Melrose “Early Bird” Invitational with 38 points to take ninth place. Taylor Ludwig @ 132 and Aaron Holmberg @ 195 led the way, as they both earned fourth place. Please see the rest of the place winners in the Early Bird summary below. The Eagles earned four place winners at the Litchfield “Dragon” Invitational, as they took seventh place with 40 points. Aaron Holmberg @ 195 earned second place, Zach Nistler @ 145 and Trevyn Ludwig @ 138 both earned fourth place and Taylor Ludwig @ 132 earned fifth place.

The Eagles were missing some of their starters, including returning state place winner Matt Schindler.

FOLEY FALCONS

The Falcons defeated four foes at the Chisago Lakes “Wildcat” duals. They defeated Hibbing of Section 7AA 55-16 as they won 11 of 14 matches in the first round. In the second round they defeated AAA Lean and Mean Cambridge-Isanti of Section 7AAA 30-27, winning 7 of 14 matches. In the third round they defeated Chisago Lakes of Section 4AA 66-6, they won 12 of 14 matches. In the final dual of the day they defeated the No. 4A ranked Kenyon-Wanamingo 47-12, they won 11 of 14 matches. Nathan Garceau at 120, Justin Henry at 182/195 and Mitch Trigg at 285 all went 4-0, Levi Jacobson went 3-0 at 106 and Cameron Kowitz went 3-1 at 132. ROYALTON/UPSALA ROYALS

The Royals opened their season at the Maple Grove “Crimson” Invitational, despite missing some of their starters, they did earn 130.5 points. They took fifth place with twelve place winners, in a field of eight teams. This included the No. 2AAA ranked Anoka in the field of teams. The Royals were led by Jason Kasella, he won the championship @ 220 and Jackson Held earned second place @ 160, as he dropped the championship match 7-5 to a nationally ranked wrestler. Wyatt Lahr earned second place @ 126, Marshall Meehl earned third place @ 182 and Dalton Louden earned third place @ 195. Damion Theisen earned fourth place @ 145 and Gabe Gorecki earned fourth place @ 132. Brady Conrad earned fifth place @ 138, Will Gorecki earned fifth place @ 106, Mason Nowitzki earned fifth place @ 285 and Mathew Kasella took sixth place @ 170.

BECKER BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs had a great start to their season with two big dual meet wins over Section 6AA foes. They defeated the Magic of Monticello 63-13, they won 12 of 14 matches and in they defeated Eagles of St. Cloud Apollo 75-6, they won 13 of 14 matches. Nicholas Radunz at 285, Caden Dewall at 138, Logan Jurek at 152/160, Connor Eickhoff at 160/170, Jake Nelson at 120 and Lucas Paulson all went 2-0 in the Magic triangular. ST. CLOUD APOLLO EAGLES

The Eagles opened their season at the Magic triangular, they dropped a pair of duals to Section 6AA foes: Becker 75-6 and to Monticello 40-23. Brett Kirchner @ 170 went 2-0 in the Magic triangular. Please see the individual results below.
