Cathedral wins, Alexandria pulls off upset

(KNSI) – Blake Perbix got the scoring started for Cathedral late in the first period to give the Crusaders the 1-0 advantage.
Jackson Savoie scored on an odd-man-rush early in the middle frame to make it 2-0 in favor of Cathedral.
Nate Warner scored his second goal of the night with workmanlike effort in front of the net for his fifth goal of the postseason to put Cathedral up 3-0.
Reid Bogenholm's first goal of the postseason added to the Cathedral lead to make the score 4-0 in favor of the Crusaders.
Jack Smith broke the game wide open for Cathedral when he scored his third goal of the postseason.
Moments thereafter, Savoie added his second of the night and his third of the postseason to add to their lead 6-0.
With the decisive victory, Cathedral moved into the Section 6A Championship against the winner of the game that followed them on the ice.
The second game of the double header was just as lopsided of an affair as the first.
Looking to get back to the Section Championship for the second-straight year, Alexandria just needed to handle a very tough Sabre squad.
Zach Wosepka scored first for the Cardinals, it was Wosepka's third goal of the postseason.
Ben Doherty then scored his first postseason goal to put Alexandria up 2-0 late in the first period.
The Cardinals played outstanding in the middle frame as Alex Jost scored his first goal of the postseason to give Alexandria a 3-0 advantage.
Jack Westlund scored for Alexandria on an odd-man-rush to expand the lead and blow the game wide open.
Alexandria lit the lamp once again when Jack Westlund scored his second of the night to put this one in the books with a final score of 5-0, in favor of Alexandria.
Alexandria and Cathedral will play the Section 6A Championship on Thursday, February 28th at 7:00 p.m.; that game will also be played at the MAC and can be heard right on KNSI.
