(KNSI) The St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders are headed to the State Championship game on Saturday after defeating the East Grand Forks Green Wave 6-2 on Friday.

The Crusaders got off to a strong start with back to back early goals from Jack Smith and Ethan Cumming to put them up 2-0 in the first period.

Green Wave's Trey Ausmus answered a few minutes later to show Cathedral that it wouldn't be as easy of a win as it was on Wednesday.

Cullen Hiltner scored for Cathedral at the end of the period to send Cathedral with a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.

Late in the second period, Jack Smith scored his second goal of the game to put Cathedral up 4-1.

Green Wave's Cole Avery responded and the score was 4-2 going into the second intermission.

In the third period, Cathedral busted the game open with 2 more goals from Jackson Savoie and Blake Perbix.

The final score of the game was 6-2 in favor of Cathedral.

Jack Smith was selected as the All Star Trophy and Awards player of the game with 2 goals.

Cathedral will play in the Class A championship game Saturday at noon.
