(KNSI)-Melrose takes down Cathedral 79-71.

Cathedral lead at the end of the first half 33-28.

Melrose Senior Reegan Nelson scored 14-straight points and put up 16 in the first half.

Jackson Jangula was an animal; he hustled, and had a bulldog mentality throughout the entirety of this intense affair.

He lead Cathedral in scoring with with 24 but missed a big free throw down-the-stretch that could have been the difference.

Nick Schaefer came alive in the 2nd half for the Crusaders by scoring 15 of his 19 in the second frame.

Schaefer also nailed a big 3-pointer late for the Crusaders to keep the game close when it started to slip away.

The persistence of the Dutchmen in the paint finally prevailed and they came away with their first win of the season.

Although on the losing side, Jangula was named the All-Star Trophy and Awards Player of the Game due to his efforts on both ends of the court.
