Cathedral defeats Sartell in close game

(KNSI) - The Cathedral Crusaders defeated the Sartell Sabres 63-53 on Friday night.
It was the first game of the season for both teams, and a rematch from the state tournament last year, when Cathedral won by 15 points.
The Sartell crowd was loud and got behind the Sabres as they narrowed the Crusaders' in the last few minutes at of the first half.
Going into halftime, the Crusaders led 30-27.
Coming out of halftime, the Sabres got a huge momentum boost from Matt Sieben who landed a 3 point shot to put them up by 4 points.
That was the biggest lead they had in the half.
Cathedral's Michael Schaefer stepped up as the team leader for Mitchell Plombon, who has been out sick with mono.
Schaefer led the team with 24 points, and helped Cathedral close out the game with a final score of 63-53.
Matt Sieben led the Sabres in scoring with 18 points.
