(KNSI) - The St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders advanced to the Minnesota State High School Basketball semifinals by defeating the Esko Eskomos in triple overtime.

The back-and-forth affair was a defensive battle for the ages.

Cathedral was down 24-20 at halftime and trailed most of the way throughout.

After tying the game in regulation, Mitchell Plombon blocked a shot at the buzzer to send the game to its first overtime.

In the first overtime, Esko got out to an early lead and the game was once again tied up by the Crusaders.

The second overtime was played at a much slower pace with both teams looking to advance after being in the bonus.

Cathedral Junior, Jackson Jangula tied the game in the final second of the second overtime and was named the All Star Trophy Player of the Game for his efforts.

In the third overtime, Cathedral extended an early lead and never looked back to the tune of a final score of 64-60 to advance to the semifinals.

Cathedral will play Minnehaha Academy Friday, March 23rd at 6:00 PM and that game can be heard on KNSI.
