(KNSI) - Although the Rocori Softball Team ended up needing to defeat Willmar twice to make it to state, receiving stellar play from one of their captains most assuredly made it easier.

Stellar play is exactly what Rachel Neugart has been giving the Spartans all season long.

The returning captain left little doubt as to how talented she is by batting .479 on the season and cracking seven home runs.

Neugart was quite literally all-everything for her team.

Along with being name All-Conference for the second-straight year, the senior was named All-Academic, All-Star and All-State.

Head coach Brian Athmann not only liked how Neugart hit but applauded her versatility in the field.

“Rachel is the type of player that can play anywhere. Though you will usually see her playing center field for the Spartans, she also saw action catching, shortstop and third base.”

Although her season is not quite over, Neugart has committed to playing softball at Williams College in Massachusetts.

Along with her versatility, Neugart’s guidance of the team also impressed Athmann.

“Rachel has the leadership to literally run the team.”

The Spartans are the 5th seed in a highly-contested Class AAA State Tournament that any team could come out as champion.

Neugart and the Rocori Spartans have their hands full in the first round of the Minnesota State Softball Tournament in North Mankato when they take on returning champion, Winona at 11:00 a.m. today.

Congratulation Rachel and good luck to you and the Rocori Softball Team at state and beyond!
