(KNSI) - When playoffs start, high school softball teams expect the best out of their best players.

The above is most definitely true when talking about St. Cloud Cathedral and one of their star players, Megan Voit.

Although their season ended much sooner than they had hoped, it was not due to the pitching or hitting of Voit.

The Junior ended the season firing on all cylinders by defeating a pesky Foley squad and a tough Pierz team with 20-combined strikeouts in 12 innings of work.

During the two outings, the lefty only gave up three earned runs on eight hits and two walks.

If her pitching dominance was not enough to help her team in the playoffs, Voit added plenty of power at the plate.

In Cathedral’s first four playoff games, Voit had a batting average of .462, scored four runs while adding 5 RBI.

Through the entire 2018 season, Voit finished with a record of nine wins and three losses while striking out 112 batters.

Voit finished offensively with a .533 batting average and knocked-in 34 runs to go with her 34 runs she scored herself.

Among all of her accomplishments this season, the one that sticks out most for head coach Mark Chamernick is the fact she only struck out five times in 104 at-bats.

Voit was also named co-MVP of the Granite Ridge Conference for the second-straight season.

Off-the-field, Voit is on the “A” Honor Roll and is a Student Ambassador to help new students make the transition to Cathedral.

Voit also found time to travel to Tanzania for two weeks in March as part of a class trip in which they helped out in an orphanage and performed various manual labor.

Yet another three-sport-athlete at Cathedral, Voit also plays volleyball in the fall and recently became a 1,000-point-scorer for the Cathedral Girls Basketball Team.

This is the second time Voit has been named the “Player of the Week” and this most likely will not be the last time she garners a look for this award.

Congratulations Megan to you and the Cathedral Softball Team on a great season!
