(KNSI) - To say this week’s winner is having a great senior soccer season would be an understatement of gigantic proportions.

St. Cloud Cathedral is the academic home for many great local athletes and McRay Drong fits that billing just the same.

The DePaul University commit has been a handful for any team to contain as this season, Drong has amassed 15 goals and 9 assists.

In the last five games alone, the captain has scored 12 goals and added 6 assists.

Against Alexandria, Drong tallied 2 more goals and another assist but head coach, Alex Hess is impressed by another aspect that Drong brings to the pitch.

“Many times he could have taken over the game [with goals] if he wanted to, but being a bonafide leader of the team that he is, he likes to share the accolades of scoring with his teammates.”

Hess also states that Drong is a very good student and an excellent leader with excellent vision and movement with the ball.

Drong also was named to the All-State Team by the minnesota State High School League and currently sits within the top ten of scoring in the entire state of Minnesota.

Drong and Cathedral hope to keep up their great play as they take on Melrose and Zimmerman this week.

Congratulations McRay and good luck to Cathedral Soccer the rest of the season!
