(KNSI) - When highlighting players from sports like swimming and diving, it may be tough to quantify how important any single player is to their team.

However, when a swimmer has been on the varsity squad for four years and is a captain as a junior, it becomes evident quickly how important a swimmer like Justine Meyer is to her team.

Meyer has been helping the Crusader Swim/ Dive Team by posting some of her best numbers this season.

The St. Johns Prep. student swims in the 50 and 100 freestyle, the 200 medley, the 200 freestyle and also sometimes competes in the 400 freestyle relay when she is needed.

Meyer's 25.67-seconds in the 50-freestyle and her 58.01-second-time in the 100-freestyle are both personal bests.

After swimming, Meyer also will play basketball for her sixth season and she was awarded the Conference MVP as a freshman.

Along with swimming and basketball, Meyer has competed in track for five years and qualified for state in the high-jump last spring.

Although the junior is seemingly plenty constrained by time with her athletics, she she was also inducted into the National Honor Society with a GPA consistently above 3.5.

If all the above doesn't seem like enough, Meyer participates in Jazz Band, the Baking Club and writes for the school newspaper, The Prep. Post.

When school is not in session, Meyer is a member of the 4-H Club and shows animals around the area.

In the future, she hopes to pursue a degree and career in visual arts at a college in Minnesota, Montana and even Canada.

Although Meyer impresses on the playing surfaces, Crusader head coach, Jennifer Daiker is most impressed with how her junior captain conducts herself away from sports.

"In school, she is a kind and dedicated student; well-liked and respected by her peers and teachers."

Congratulations, Justine and good luck to you and the Crusader Swim/ Dive Team the rest of the season!
