(KNSI) - The St. Cloud Apollo Volleyball Team was down to cross-town rival, Tech after one set; the Eagles needed someone to step-up in a big way.

That someone just so happened to be this week's All-Star Trophy and Awards Player of the Week, Haley Schleper.

The senior attacker, along with a few of the other girls then took the game into their hands and did not lose another set to the Tigers.

That match added to a terrific week in which Schleper recorded 38 kills, 6 ace-serves, 5 blocks and 31 digs in just three matches.

Schleper's play not only caught the eye of Apollo's fans but Tech's head coach, Kristy Husen was also impressed.

"She seems to be a constant for Apollo; a kid who doesn't seem to get frazzled. She always puts up a solid block and is a versatile hitter."

Husen's thoughts were also echoed by the voice of volleyball for KNSI, John Peterson.

"[Schleper's] a pretty good attacker for Apollo; a great leader and can play all around the court."

Apollo has dropped two-straight matches since they defeated Tech but they most assuredly would like to see more of the same from one of their stars.

Schleper and the Eagles are back in action when they head to the Barb Neprud Invitational at Cass Lake-Bena High School this Friday, September, 14th.

Congratulations Haley and good luck to you and the St. Cloud Apollo Volleyball Team the rest of the season!
